India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heat wave conditions over Rajasthan and Gujarat for the next two days. In Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, and Coastal Karnatak, hot and humid conditions are likely to prevail today. In Assam and Meghalay, there is a forecast of heavy rainfall till tomorrow.
The weather agency forecast light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in North, Northeast and East India during the next 3 to 4 days. Similar conditions are expected over North and South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Kerala and Mahe.
The national capital began Wednesday on a warmer note, with the minimum temperature settling at 23.4°C to 1.8 degrees above the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The day is expected to remain clear, turning partly cloudy by evening or night. The mercury is likely to touch a high of 37°C, while humidity at 8:30 am was recorded at 50 per cent.
The weather department has predicted of severe heatwave conditions in parts of West Rajasthan, with temperatures soaring between April 16 and 18. East Rajasthan and Gujarat are also expected to experience isolated heatwave pockets during the same period. Warm night conditions are likely in these regions as well as parts of West Madhya Pradesh.
