MoS Margherita to embark on 9-day visit to Uruguay, Bahamas, Barbados, Nicaragua.

Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita will embark on a nine-day visit to Uruguay, Bahamas, Barbados, and Nicaragua from Friday. During his visit to Uruguay, the Minister will represent the country at the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect of Uruguay, Yamandu Orsi. The External Affairs Ministry said this significant event underscores India’s commitment to fostering strong bilateral ties with Uruguay.

The Minister’s visit to the Bahamas will build upon the discussions held between the Indian and Bahamian Prime Ministers during the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit in Guyana last November. This meeting aims to explore new avenues for cooperation and strengthen existing ties between the two nations.

In Barbados, Mr Margherita will review bilateral relations, following the highly successful India-CARICOM Summit, and receive the prestigious Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados Award on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This honour was announced during the summit and highlights the strong bond between India and Barbados.

The final leg of the Minister’s visit will take him to Nicaragua, where he will engage in bilateral meetings, marking the first-ever ministerial visit from the Ministry of External Affairs to Nicaragua.

His four-nation visit will include meetings with Foreign Ministers, and interaction with key political, trade and industry leaders and members of Indian Diaspora. He will also visit bilateral development partnership project sites.
