Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged everyone to stay calm and follow safety precautions after tremors were felt in Delhi and nearby areas this morning.
In a social media post, Mr. Modi forewarned the citizens to stay alert for possible aftershocks and assured that the authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation.
In a post on X, Modi said, “Tremors were felt in Delhi and nearby areas. Urging everyone to stay calm and follow safety precautions, staying alert for possible aftershocks. Authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation.”
Dr OP Mishra, director, NCS said, “Delhi has been experiencing minor earthquakes. This earthquake occurred in Dhaula Kuan. In 2007, an earthquake of 4.7 magnitude had occurred there. There is nothing to worry about. It is a seismic zone there… After 4.0 magnitude, the aftershock will be less by 1.2 magnitude, it is natural as it will heal it.”
He told PTI that the quake occurred due to naturally occurring variations in the geological features of the region.
