In Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated that his country is ready to deliver a “purposeful, forceful but reasonable, immediate” response if U.S. President Donald Trump imposes tariffs on Canadian imports.
While speaking at a meeting of the Council on Canada-U.S. Relations in Toronto, Trudeau said that Canada is prepared for any scenario.
Earlier, the White House has confirmed that President Donald Trump will be slapping aggressive tariffs on major US trading partners including, Canada, China and Mexico from today.
“We’re ready with a response – a purposeful, forceful but reasonable, immediate response. It’s not what we want, but if he moves forward, we will also act,” he said in televised remarks, adding that all options were on the table.
Canada sends 75% of all its goods and services exports to the United States and the economy would be badly hit by Trump’s promised tariffs.
