Indore and Udaipur join list of Wetland Accredited Cities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Indore and Udaipur for joining the list of 31 Wetland Accredited Cities in the world. In a social media post,

Mr Modi said this recognition reflects the government’s strong commitment to sustainable development and nurturing harmony between nature and urban growth. He hoped that the feat would inspire everyone to keep working towards creating greener, cleaner and more eco-friendly urban spaces across the nation.

Accreditation is an international recognition for the cities that value their natural and human-made wetlands. An independent Advisory Committee on Wetland City Accreditation of the Convention in its latest round accredited 31 new cities, including two from India, making the global list of such cities to reach 74.

“The achievement reflects the emphasis laid by India on holistic development of our urban areas without compromising on ecological conservation in both urban and rural centres,” said Union environment minister Bhupender Yadav while terming the achievement of the two cities a “double joy” in his post on X
