In view of the Chhath festival, the Railways is operating special trains for the convenience and smooth travel of passengers. Today, around 25 festival special trains are originating from Delhi-NCR to the eastern regions of the country.
Talking exclusively to Akashvani, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, said that the Northern Railway is also operating trains on demand for the benefit of the passengers who travel in general class.
To cater to the rush of passengers during the festive season, the Indian Railways is operating around seven thousand specials from the 1st of last month to the 30th of this month. Nearly two lakh extra passengers can travel by these special trains on a daily basis.
This year the number of special trains has increased to seven thousand, compared to four thousand five hundred trains operated last year. Security measures have also been taken for crowd control and smooth functioning.
