Bihar Floods. Water Levels Recede But 15 Lakh Still Affected As New Areas Face Inundation.

In Bihar, the water level of several overflowing rivers has started receding, but, in many areas, they are still above danger level. Around 15 lakh people in 17 districts have been affected by the flood due to the rise of water levels in Gandak, Kosi, Mahananda, Bagmati, and other rivers.

As the flood water is reaching low-lying areas in the tailing end of Bagmati, Kosi, Kamla Balan, and some other rivers, new regions have been impacted by the flood.

In Muzaffarpur, Gandak and Bagmati are wreaking havoc in Katara, Gaighat, and Aurai blocks. From Sheohar to Sitamarhi and Madhubani to Darbhanga, flood-affected people have taken shelter on embankments and highways.

After the devastation, several people have become homeless and are living a nomadic life.
