In Mumbai, Thane crime branch has arrested two trustees of Aadarsh Vidyalaya, Badlapur, where two minor girls were sexually assaulted by a sweeper.
Police officials said the crime branch apprehended school trustees Uday Kotwal and Tushar Apte from Karjat in Raigad district yesterday and handed them over to the Special Investigation Team, SIT.
The case was lodged against these trustees and officials of the school under relevant sections of POCSO for allegedly failing to report the sexual assault incident involving two minor girls. The SIT has filed two chargesheets in this regard.
The arrests came after the Bombay High Court rejected anticipatory bail pleas of both Kotwal and Apte. The main accused in the case, Akshay Shinde, was killed in a police encounter in September 2024.
