In Maharashtra, crops in ten districts have been damaged in the recent rains. The state Agriculture department said in a report that approximately over 8 lakh hectares of Kharif crops have been affected.
Director, Agriculture department, Vinay Kumar Awte said, the damage assessment is currently underway. As per the department’s report, crops like cotton, soybean, tur, bajra, moong, urad, maize, sorghum and onions and vegetables suffered damage.
The department has urged farmers whose crops have been damaged, to inform crop insurance companies to expedite the Panchnama process.
