Minister of State for Rural Development, Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar visited flood-affected areas in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh today.
He inspected submerged crop fields in Venkatakrishnapuram, Anumarlapudi, Tangellamudi and nearby areas. Dr. Chandrasekhar accompanied with Ponnur MLA, Dhulipalla Narendra, met with farmers and listened to their concerns.
The minister highlighted that several tenant farmers in the region lost over 50,000 due to pre-paid leases. He assured the farmers that steps would be taken to protect them from losses and promised an additional relief package.
Dr. Chandrasekhar also announced a 300 crore rupee plan to clean, modernise and widen the drainage system on a war footing.
