A female Maoist has been killed in an encounter with security forces on Tuesday in Kanker district, Chhattisgarh. The encounter took place in Binagunda forest when a joint team of DRG, Bastar Fighters and BSF was on a search operation in Chhotabethia area.
After the gun battle, the dead body of the Maoist, along with a huge quantity of weapons including two rifles have been recovered from the spot.

Security forces have gunned down a female Maoist following an exchange of fire in Chotebethiya police station limits of Kanker district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, July 9.
The encounter took place in Binagunda forest area when a joint team of security forces comprising of personnel from Border Security Force (BSF) and Bastar Fighters, a unit of the state police was out on a routine search operation in the area.
According to the reports, while searching the area the security team was ambushed by Maoists who open indiscriminate fire upon the forces to which the latter retaliated heavily, neutralising a female Maoist operative in the gunfight.
The deceased Maoists was reported to be a member of the People’s Liberation Guerilla Army, armed wing of the proscribed CPI Maoist whose identity is yet to be ascertained.
Following the gunfight, the joint team also recovered a 303 rifle and ammunition along seizing other daily use material from the spot. The development has been confirmed by the senior official of the police and more details of the encounter is still awaited.
It must be noted that a major encounter had also taken place in the Binnagunda forest area of Chotebethiya in April this year which resulted in neutralisation of a total of 29 Maoists.
Those killed in the encounters include four Area Committee Members (ACM) and one Divisional Committee Member (DVCM) of the banned Maoist group. The DVCM member killed in the action was later identified as Shankar Rao.
