Campaigning for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections will end today. 58 constituencies spread over eight states and union territories will go to polls in this phase on Saturday, May 25. These include 8 seats in Bihar, all 10 seats in Haryana, one seat in Jammu and Kashmir, 4 in Jharkhand, all 7 seats in Delhi, 6 in Odisha, 14 in Uttar Pradesh and 8 in West Bengal.
As many as 889 candidates are in the fray from these 58 Lok Sabha constituencies. The voting will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. Prime Minister and senior BJP leader Narendra Modi will address a party rally in Patiala town of Punjab today. Tight security arrangements have been made in and around the Polo ground for this rally.
Campaigning for six Lok Sabha constituencies in Odisha which will go to polls in the sixth phase will come to an end this evening. 42 Assembly constituencies coming under Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Puri, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack Lok Sabha constituencies are also going for polls in the third phase of Assembly elections being held in the state simultaneously with the general elections on 25th of this month. This phase is poised to witness significant electoral battles with many heavyweights including Union Minister and senior BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP leaders Bhartruhari Mahtab, Aparajita Sarangi, Sambit Patra, BJD organisation general secretary Pranab Prakash Das.
BJP president JP Nadda, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma are addressing public meetings in Odisha today for BJP nominees. They criticised th BJD led Naveen Patnaik government for taking back the state on all fronts and urged the voters to give BJP a chance to form the government in Odisha for the first time.
The poll campaign for all the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi will conclude this evening. Political parties are leaving no stone unturned to attract voters through Roadshows, Public Meetings and Door to Door campaigns. The polling in the national capital will be held in the sixth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections on Saturday.
Today, Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Rajnath Singh addressed a public meeting in Dwarka area of West Delhi Lok Sabha. In his address, Mr. Singh said that Bharat will definitely see the rise of ‘Ram Rajya’ and no power in the world can stop it.
BJP leader and Union Minister Piyush Goyal held a road show in Najafgarh area of West Delhi. Another BJP leader and Union Minister Smriti Irani also held a road show in Ashok Vihar area of Chandni Chowk Parliamentary Constituency. BJP leader and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma held a roadshow in Rohini area of North West Delhi Lok Sabha seat.
Meanwhile, Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi hold a public meeting in Dilshad Garden area of North East Delhi Parliamentary Constituency. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Gandhi slammed BJP led government for perpetuating poverty and inequality. He accused that the government only works for certain business giants and never worked for the people. Mr. Gandhi claimed that youth have been severly effected due to unemployment.
All prominent leaders and star campaigner of national parties are on ground on the last day of Campaign to woo the voters.
In Jharkhand, leaders from various political parties are making last ditch efforts to woo the voters as the election campaign comes to the close in next few hours for the Ranchi, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur and Giridih Lok Sabha seats.
Voting for these four seats will be held on 25th of this month in the sixth phase of polling.
The election department has made all necessary arrangements for the polling which will begin at 7am and conclude at 5 pm. There are a total of 93 candidates in the fray on all the four parliamentary seats.
Thirty two companies of Central Armed Police Force will be guarding the polling stations across all four Lok Sabha seats.
The polling personnel will leave for their respective place of duty tomorrow morning after collecting the election paraphernalia.
Chief Minister of Chhatisgarh Vishnudeo Sai will hold a roadshow in Jamshedpur for BJP nominee Bidyut Baran Mahto. Similarly, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Kalpana Soren, wife of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren will also address election rally at Ghatshila in Jamshedpur for the INDIA block nominee.
Meanwhile, sitting BJP MP from Hazaribagh who was issued a show cause notice for not voting in the May 20 polls held on his seat by the party, in his reply has said that he exercised his right to franchise through postal ballot. He said that he did voting through postal ballot as he was abroad for some personal work. Dismayed over the show cause notice issued to him was circulated in the media, he said that he was not invited to any party programme.
