IMD issues orange alert over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh & Bihar.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has today issued an orange alert over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar with cold to severe cold day conditions to continue. The IMD forecasts dense to very dense fog at night and morning hours in parts of Punjab and Haryana for the next two days and over parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura for the next two days.
 
The IMD also predicts light to moderate rainfall over parts of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Lakshadweep during the next 4 to 5 days. Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning are expected over Maharashtra during the next two days, and hailstorms over East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh for the next two days. It also predicts light rain and snowfall over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Tuesday.
 
The IMD has also warned fishermen to not venture into the coasts of Tamil Nadu, adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal, Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Comorin Area due to squally weather and wind speed gusting up to 55 kilometres per hour.
 
The weather agency predicts no significant change in minimum temperatures over northern India during the next 5 days.
