In the ongoing encounter in the Bajimaal area of the Dharmsal belt of Rajouri district five Indian Army Personnel including two Captains sacrificed their lives and attained martyrdom even as troops shot dead two two highly -ranked trained terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba in the fresh exchange of firing which started today morning. The martyred Indian Army Personnel have been identified as Capt. M.V Pranjal, Capt. Shubham Gupta, Hav. Abdul Majid, Lance Naik Sanjay Bisht and Paratrooper Sachin Laur.
One of the deceased terrorists gunned down on Thursday by the troops has been identified as Qari. He had been trained on the Pakistan & Afghan Front and was active in Rajouri-Poonch along with his group for the past year. He is also believed to be the mastermind of the Dangri & Kandi attacks. According to the Defence Spokesperson, Qari was sent by his masters across the border to revive terrorism in the region.
He was an expert in IEDs, operating & hiding from Caves and a trained sniper. Some arms and ammunition have also been recovered from the site of the encounter.
The fresh firing resumed this morning after a night-long halt belt. The area was cordoned off overnight with the induction of additional security forces to ensure that terrorists engaged in the encounter did not escape from the area.
