NDA’s Presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu will file her nomination today. She arrived in New Delhi yesterday ahead of the filing of her nomination. The former Jharkhand governor was received at the Delhi airport by union ministers G Kishan Reddy and Meenakshi Lekhi, along with several other BJP leaders. Ms Murmu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP President JP Nadda and several other top leaders of the ruling party in New Delhi.
In a tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, Ms Murmu’s Presidential nomination has been appreciated across India by all sections of society. Mr Modi said Droupadi Murmu’s understanding of grassroot problems and vision for India’s development is outstanding.
Opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha will file his nomination on 27th of this month.
The last date for filing of nominations is June 29. The polls, if necessary, will be held on July 18 and the counting on July 21.
